It is a very "fast" lens due to the large 1!.8 aperture!. You can get a lot of light into the camera in dim conditions, meaning you do not have to use as high an ISO, which results in better photos!. Plus, you can have some very nice bokeh, (blurred background) with the large aperture!. Though it is a 50mm lens on a full frame, (35mm size), sensor, on your D90, it will have a focal length of 75mm, which makes a nice portrait lens!.

Go for it! You will like it!.

As usual, if you're lucky, you get what you pay for!.

I have measured this lens with an object distance of about 400mm and found its resolution somewhat wanting!. The lens resolution (low contrast) is about 40 microns at the focal plane which in most modern cameras covers about 5 pixels!. Most disappointing for a Nikkor lens!. (They have been making this particular lens for many years!.)

However, if you're not interested in producing super sharp pictures, take mainly snapshots or are looking for a "soft" lens this lens may suit you!. For the price it is certainly good value!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
