To put in as simple terms as possible, one might say that the impressionists believed that painting out of doors was much more realistic!. In short, they lighting situation, etc!. played an important part in the impressionist movement!. The play of light on water for example and actually getting out into nature and getting involved!. To me, this would mean that the artist would need to be there at the same time each day!. Of course, I would imagine that their times did fluctuate some, but I believe that they were dedicated artists and devoted to the impressionist moverment!.

As you probably know, the impressionist movement began with Monet, and his painting Impression RISING SUN!. This is probably a good painting to study in order to become familiar with the impressionistic style!.!.!.!.Good Luck with you studies and God bless!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The reason why they painted like they did!?!.!.!.it was a popular theme at the time and alot of them knew each other by various means, mostly through exibitions at which the artists were present and so they got to know one another and some of them began realtionships (however limited or not) that pretty much dictated what they would try and paint,!.( sort of copying one another as opposed to painting for a market )!.subject matter, social matter and style were alot the same back in those days and so the small number of impressionists you see from that period painted similarly!.!.!.!.!.It wasn't so much a dictated subject matter it was a flight from common markets and the joy of soem freedoms with each other's company!. There's is no real reason "why" so much as it is a simple fact of the times!.!.( kinda like the Vietnam war protests back in teh late 60s )!.!.!.some of this was also helped along by means of the "printed word" NEWS!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was really just expressing the raw life of nature, and separating themselves form the conformities and rules of the Salons (established art institutions)!. Think of the roughness and excitement of Cezanne - the electric spontinaeity of them!Www@QuestionHome@Com
