How should you paint light on dark hair using oil paints?

Question: How should you paint light on dark hair using oil paints!?

Im painting a portrait with oils and the hair is dark brown!. Im afraid of using white but is that the way to go!? Should I put in a light brown instead!?

also, should I wait for the underpainting to dry before adding the highlights or do I go at it wet!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Under no circumstance add straight white, mix it with brown and little yellow, if you want really bright highlights that stand out mix white with little purple or warm blue!.
You can add the highlights in whenever you want to, you can do them wet in wet but don't muddy it!. wipe your brush off after every stroke!. or just wait and put the highlights in after the painting is dry to touch, whatever technique will suit your painting better!.
