Question: Rebel "Busy" Causing Delay!.!?
How can I speed up my camera, Is it the fact that I'm using the RAW+Large JPG saving method!? I have a fairly fast memory card and sometimes I can shoot picture after picture but othertimes without making a single change it just lags and says "Busy" and I can't take any pictures!.!.!. I've had my camera for a while now (The Rebel XTI) and I'm still learning how to use it properly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Using the flash will cause that as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is really no reason to shoot RAW + JPEG Fine (large)!. Choose RAW + JPEG Basic (small)!.

Since you have the RAW files you can later process into high quality JPEG files, the smaller JPEG files will take less time to write to your memory card!. You can do your first edit using the smaller JPEG files and once you have the best of the best images moved to a special file folder, you can process any of the matching RAW files you have picked to work with!.

Most Canon cameras do not support 'UDMA' - which stands for Ultra Direct Memory Access!. This assists the speed when image files are being written!. Usually the cameras buffer keeps this from being an issue!.

How many photos in a row are you trying to take!? Machine-gunning your camera is not a real good technique for shooting action or sports!. Shooting at the peak of action is the way the pros do it!.

If you don't need to shoot RAW, then you can turn if off, but if you shoot for large images or need high quality final images, you will want to continue shooting and storing in RAW!.

Just slow down your shooting rate and you should be fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is the flash recharging for sure!. I have the same camera, and it will do that, its even in the manual, it says if you use the flash for a certain amount of shots it will require a recharge!. There are only two solutions, buy an external flash, or shoot without it!.

A third solution is to just wait for it to recharge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use the XTi as well!.!.!. and when I shoot models for class, I shoot in Raw & Large JPG so I can give them a CD directly after the shoot (the XTi does NOT give us the option to shoot Raw & Small JPG)!. I haven't had any problems with it slowing down my camera though!.

Try using another memory card and see if that helps!. If not, you might want to call Canon about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
