if i remember correctly abstract is the simplest form of art!. calligraphy is the art of hand stroke!. one thing i remember my teacher telling me, is you have to give meaning to your art specially when it comes to abstract and be ready to defend its meaning!. calligraphy is free art, anything pretty will do with some art design!. First your question is totally confusing!. Second the difference between abstract design & calligraphy is that they are totally different things!. & your picture I don't believe falls under the category of abstract design or calligraphy!. So what exactly are you talking about!.
Yeah, I would like to know!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Calligraphy is all about line and shape and texture, using a variety of tools (pens, markers, brushes, carrots, celery!.!.!.)

Those lines/shapes/textures also make up designs---realistic or gestural/abstract!. Many calligraphers work in both 'worlds'!.

The most amazing is Denis Brown of Ireland!. see link below!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For abstract design you need composition that has balance and something to provoke the audience, an idea or emotion!.
Calligraphy is writing!. So abstract design can have calligraphy but calligraphy does not have to have a composition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
