Question: Taking pictures of horses!?
So, I can not get a good picture of the horses I take pictures of in the ring, the ring is rather dark when I am shooting, so the light meter is at hte darkest it can be, and honestly, I don't know what to do, tips!? I generally shoot at 400 film speed because that is the film I have acess too, I tried shooting at 1600, but it was still really light, how can I make them show up!?

This is for a B&W photography class BTW!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well for photography classes you need to pick subjects that are in good lighting to make your life much easier!.

For this shoot, you can buy some Kodak 3200 ISO film to get the shots, but you will be dealing with large grain!. Check with your instructor before shooting this assignment and follow their suggestions!.

Old time press photographers with over ten years of experience might be able to pull such a shoot off, but they have tons of special techniques they have developed over the years and know when certain shots cannot me made under the existing conditions and how to get the shots anyway!.

The basic rule in being a student photographer is to always pick subjects that meet the criteria of the assignment, compose for the most interesting image and shoot technically perfect exposures!. It seems that the technical part of your choice of subject will not provide you with the best grade!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can take the picture when the horses are relatively still or walking and use a slower shutter!. The motion blur could look okay if it makes the horses seem like they are moving faster!. Try panning the camera with the horse as it moves so that the background is blurred, but the horse is sharper!.

You could also photograph the horses before they enter the ring, preferably outside!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Can you edit your photography!? Cause if so give it to me and I can fix it for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
