I need some Gimp help?

Question: I need some Gimp help!?

I made this cool wing with the smear tool and I want to put it on a girl, but how do I get all the white off the edges!? I tried using the tool on paint that does this, but it just created an outline of white around it!. I also tried using the custom outline cut out in paint and Gimp, but the edges are almost impossible, can someone tell me what to do or just edit it for me!? Thank you!.

Use the magic wand tool (It should resemble a wand) and use it to try and remove the white around the black!. Then when you do, don't save it as jpg!. jpg doesn't allow transparency!. Save it as !.png!. If you don't know how to do this, instead of when saving it it, the name of the file will be like this: namehere!.jpg
Change that !.jpg to !.png!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your previous answers are correct BUT they are missing the all important final step!.

If you were to use the magic wand tool selecting the white area!.!.!.you will have a small amount of white left, that you will see when you attempt to place on your girl image!.

The workaround:

After selecting the white, select inverse, then transform selection, hold control to constrain proportions and using the mouse shrink the selection just a little bit - the select inverse and delete or alternately just copy and place on your new figure!.

You could avoid all of this by using magic wand/inverse/ then "feather" probably 2-5 pixels in the box
