how can i put a word on a picture for free for example

if you want you can use Paint, open image, then open new paint window, in new paint type text and resize font, invert color white on black, copy with transparency, then paste with transparency on over image, adjust size then repaint bucket to white or other color,

with photofiltre, you can do the same and thats to paste white cutout of text over image,
or when you type text, selection black with wand and all option, and then right click to apply pattern using pictures,
