You have a good eye!.

It would be good so see some 'portrait' style photos in your portfolio!. I prefer photos without people or animals but the ability to photograph them often is the distinction between a good photographer and a FANTASTIC one!.

Try to learn about light and how to use it!.

I'm off now to check out what you have on YouTube !. !. !. !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Mark,

Your photos are good, I wouldn't say "mind-blowing great" as a portfolio, but they're decent!. Most of your photos look mainly experimental, which is great for practice, but if you're trying to make this your portfolio, you will need to choose better photos that should automatically engage your viewers in a visual and meaningful way!. I think you have quite the photographer's eye, but I also think you could improve on the compositions of your photos!.

I see some great concepts like the two hands (the elderly's and the child's) gripping the chain, but the object on the far right is too distracting that it struggles to focus on the main subject!. The pink plumerias are beautiful, but it would've been more appealing had you put more focus on one flower or shooting it at an interesting or abstract angle, maybe emphasizing the vibrant yellow in the center of the flower!. You've caught the luscious orange color of the pumpkin, but you've over-done the cropping just a little bit and you got rid of some of the blue which contrasted so well with the orange!. And I don't really understand the concept behind the blurry palm trees and the rough wall being the focus!. It doesn't really say anything!.

However, I really like the white sandy pathway with the white fence--just add a little contrast and it would work perfectly! The intense splashes of the waves is a great shot!. You should try using a photo-editing software to boost up some contrast and color into your photos!. I see some great potential!

I hope that it is alright that I am totally blunt, but as a fellow photography student, I feel it is important that we get used to people being direct about our photos and talent or else how can we improve!?
As a whole your portfolio feels!.!.!.limited!.!.a little dull!. I see no distinctive personal style, no real theme apparent between the photos!. They are all very random and look more like practice shots!. (Especially the one of the fence!. Does make a statement about your skill with a camera at all!.) Many of your photos are dark!. Not much contrast!. no real focal point!. I don't see any "creative eye" or any harmony, composition, balance, etc in the photos!. Photography is not just snapping a random view!. You have to search for the right angle, the right light, best place for the subject, etc!. Compose through the lens!. Don't know how long you have done photography or your goals, but I would keep working!. The photos are decent, but not what I would exactly call Portfolio ready!. Well, from one photog to another: Good Luck and don't give up!

(Shot of the shoes, the sand in hand, and a few sunset photos had the best potential)Www@QuestionHome@Com

take your portfolio and shrink it to 5-10 prints!. Reduce redundant work like the two lighthouse shots, also the shot of the W on the grass isint worth including!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
