I draw lots of cars and get many compliments on them, as they are something I enjoy doing most, and have practiced quite a bit

If you take a look on there, you can see some as examples!.
Basically I find the key is getting the proportions right, and starting to introduce some rendering to make them appear 3D!.

I would find a reference picture of a car you want to draw!. Print it out to fill an A4 size piece of paper, in black and white!. Then draw a grid lightly in pencil over the top of it, using squares of equal distance!.
Then get the sheet you want to draw on, and draw the exact same grid, lightly in pencil, on here!.

This process makes it easier to get the car proportions right!. I usually start to sketch out the outline near the headlights and front grille!. Start in one grid square, on your reference picture, and copy what you see in there, onto your drawing paper!. Then move to your next square!. Do this carefully and you will have more accurate propertions than drawing completely freehand!.

Then find the darkest areas on the reference picture, and shade them in on your drawing!. leave the lightest bits white, letting the paper show through!. If you want ultra realism, copy everything you see on the reference picture, each little detail, and shade in every shadow, every midtone, and leave every highlight white!. Showing details seem to be the way to make your drawing appear more realistic!.

If you are wanting to draw your own cars from scratch, and design your own, then by learning the above, and getting used to drawing vehicles in general, you will learn a lot about the layout of the compostition and the way all the shapes fit together!. Practice obviously makes perfect, so just keep going!
Good luck

Drawing vehicles takes a lot of practice and patients because you have to train your hand to draw with different pressures!. Drawing a good looking car takes precision, and you can acheive that by taking a short art class or looking for inspiration on the internet!. I love art, and I have learned that if you dont have the proper materials, a picture will not meet it's potential!. Save up some money, and start by buying some high guality graphite pencils!. As you practice with pencil sketches, move on to art markers!. They will provide you with that smooth texture and clean look that you need to make a sleek looking cars!. My favorite art markers are prismacolor!. Beware though, you could spend alot of money on these high quality supplies!. I have to save up and buy a little bit at a time!. For prismacolor brand art supplies, I buy them at my local Michael's craft store!. But if you dont have that in your area, the prismacolor website will give you a list of certified dealers!. Hope this helps, and have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com
