Question: Artists: do you get annoyed when people with no artistic talent criticize your work!?
And no, I don't mean a few helpful (or polite) critiques here and there, but I know this girl at my school that can't draw worth sh*t, and whenever she sees me drawing she points out all the flaws in it!. It bothers me so much! If anyone's had something similar happen to them, did it annoy you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course it is annoying, but as you said "she can't draw worth sh*t" so her opinion is likely worth just as much as her drawing skill!. :P

I always liked having people without artistic talent criticize my work, as they usually picked up things people who could draw would not!. They would say they didn't like the colour, or didn't get it, or found the style weird, while an artist might admire you for being able to manage such a "difficult" style!. People without artistic background has opinions that's a lot more innocent and often more honest than those with artist backgrounds, since they will be the ones that at the end of the day will have to enjoy your work the most!.

But yeah, you will always get opinionated people, who think above their ability!. Probably she is trying to put your work down, because she isn't as good, or to make herself feel better!.

Soldier on, it isn't she you are making the art for!.

Actually art is meant to be viewed in order for it to have any reason for being there!. Untalented people need to feel important too!.!.even if they have no talent at all!. Just consider that she cant possibly draw as well as you do, so let her have her say!. Smile at her and ask her if she can do any better!.
A smile works wonders with most everybody!.
Then be thankful that you have the talent to create something beautiful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Even those who cannot draw can see flaws in perspective or scale, etc!. However, if the advice is not asked for, it is rude of her to point these things out!. If you didn't ask for her opinion, ignore it- she is probably jealous!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They're entitled to their (her) opinion!. Don't let it get to you!. Next time she bangs on, just quietly say 'can you do any better!?' Inform her that actions speak louder than words!.

Besides, art is totally subjective!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
