I really adore this picture!.
It's very warming and cute!.
Your focus seems to be good and I like the contrast of the background with the kitten!.
But, the colors are somewhat distracting with the lighting in the back and the plaid blanket!.
So I would still allow contrast, or you can make it very light (like the ad for Marc Jacobs' perfume: Daisy; the ad is limited and it is hard to find, but basically the whole photo is light and amusing)!.
Don't have too many objects in the picture; keep the focus on the kitten!.
But I really like it :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi! This is a lovely snapshot!

Here are a few quick pointers that can help with shots like this!.!.!.

- Horizontal balance!. When there is a clear horizontal in the frame, try to align your photo with that horizontal!. It will give a cleaner feel to the photo!. In your picture, the lamp shade should have been a straight horizontal!.
- Colour temperature!. Check out and experiment with your camera's lighting functions!. The colour temperature ultimately used in this picture didn't work well in this light!. The kitten should be white; overall, the photo is too red (it is too warm)!.
- Composition!. A key photographic element is the rule of thirds!. In a nutshell, the rules of thirds sees the photographer dividing the frame into 9 equal squares to compose an imaginary grid!. The focal point of the photograph should be placed on or near one of the intersecting points of the grid (see the link below)!. So, in this photo, it would have increased the drama to have had the cat off to the right, centered vertically!. Generally speaking (but not always), by keeping the "empty space" or "background only" off to the side in the direction the subject is looking, you can create a sense of movement and/or balance in your photo!.

A few other bits!. Shooting digital means you can shoot more!. Try different angles, and don't fear moving in for a nice tight close-up, especially on a subject like your cute little kitten (just remember the rule of thirds!)!.

I think that's enough pointers for now!. Keep having fun with your camera and check out other features like your aperture settings (depth of field), shutter settings (action shots), contrast settings (to enhance the difference between shadow and highlight), and the list goes on!.!.!.your manual will become your best photography friend!

BTW - a suggestion about uploading photos to the Web!. A photo like this should be sized about (just an approximate here, okay) 720x576 pixels; this would be 10x8 at 72 dpi!. This would be big enough to see clearly online and load fairly quickly!. When you go much larger than this, the file is too large to open quickly on the Web!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really like the warmth of the photo and how the background is out of focus!.

Advice: possibly try getting closer-up to the cat next time, edit it to blur out everything around the cat to bring more attention to the main focus of the photo!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

awwww! I love your kitty! haha
*ahem* anyways!.!.!.
The angle is excellent, and his/her light fur definitely pops against the unfocused, darker background!. However, next time check for supplementary objects in the background (the blue thing next to the lamp totally caught my eye)!. Other than that, I think it's a great photograph :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The white balance is off!. White cat should appear white!. (Cute cat though!.)

For example, original of this ( http://www!.flickr!.com/photos/little_pook!.!.!. ) was more than yellow--it was orange!.
