My guess is that you were using 35 mm film, which comes in a small cassette and is pulled across the back of the camera as you go from one picture to the next!. The cassettes are light-tight, so only the film that was actually out of the cassette has been exposed!. If you reload the film into the camera and advance the film to picture #4, you shouldn't have a problem with the rest of the roll!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I assume you've closed it again!. Now hit the shutter button and advance the film 3 times, at least, in order to move the exposed film away!. Take your pictures, then rewind and develop!. You should still be able to get something out of it!.

Next time, do the 'picture' to get the film started while the back is still open!. You'll see it start around the spool, and then you can advance it again and take your pictures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, it won't ruin your film!.!.!. the first shot is gone but the rest of the film is still usable!. I would suggest closing it and advancing at least one more frame (maybe two) to assure that you are on unexposed film before continuing with the roll!.

also remember that you are partially into the roll and, although your film counter has reset to 0, you are not starting with frame #1 anymore!. You will likely finish a 36 exposure roll at about 30!.

its common sense not to open the back
not common sense that it would ruin the film but if you only took one photo why would you need to do anything to the filmWww@QuestionHome@Com

The film that is still inside the canister or on the roll should still be OK provided the light wasn't too bright!.
