Question: Was Picasso a pervert!?

I was watching this video about him in my art class today and it seems he had lots of paintings of nude/half-nude women!.!.!.!. there is even a painting of a woman masturbating!.!.!.!.!.

when I saw the masturbating one I was thinking to myself "man, I wonder what a mom would say if she had her little kid at the museum and saw that painting and asked why she was doing that!?"Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, Picasso was not a pervert!. Different!.!.absolutely! You show me an artist that isn't different!.

You have to have an appreciation for the human body!. Throughout history, the female body has been a symbol of fertility and has been viewed as beautiful!. Most nudes are tastefully done!.!.!.they don't look like a porno magazine!. Thus the term nude and not porno!.

It isn't to say there aren't/weren't some risque paintings out there, however most nudes are done to beautify the female body and not to exploit the essence of beauty by making it vulgar!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was traditional up until relatively recently (last few centuries) to paint nudes, and because most painters were men, the nudes often turned out to be women!. To determine if a painter was good or not, many set the painting of a nude as the basic test!.

And remember, people were pretty repressed back then- its not like you could go out and buy Playboy!.
