for quality images, you want to use photoshop ot paintshop-pro photo, and similar programs, with color adjustment features, and layer options,

the simple way to make one image color, is to use color photo, open in basic editor, select item with lasso tool, and invert the selection, then lower the color saturation,

for an image with more than one item or color, is whee you want to be able to select areas, and invert selection(s) to desaturate areas, and duplicate layers to edit each color separately, and also add other colors and effects,

Just about any program can do that, most people buy photoshop or a corel!. There are free ones online but I'm not sure if they will let you bc the way you do it is to duplicate the "layer"/picture, turn it into BW, then erase back the color on the parts you want!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI!.
