Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Find out what kind of paintings she likes!.!.!.!.!.cuz she's inspired by other artists!.!.!.!.!.!.then spend your money on a great art book for her,!.!.!.she'll cherish it forever,!.!.might I suggest "The Pencil" by Paul Calle!. it is one of the books that has taken me through 33 years of being an artist for a living!.!.!.!.great explanation, great examples of drawing, great artwork included and a great storyline!.Www@QuestionHome@Com The best gift for an artist would be a gift certificate from an on-line art supply store!. Don't get brushes, paints, or canvas!. Those are too personal for an artist unless you know she would want or need, say a #10 bristle, something very specific!. If she had a gift certificate, she could get supplies, books, or videos!.Www@QuestionHome@Com oil paints, unless she already has them!. Oil paints are very rich and can be used for many different types of paintings!. If you end up getting her oil paints, maybe get her some medium specifically for oil paints with it!. Acrylics are like oil paints, but not as rich and versatile!. It would be a second option!. You can get her good quality brushes, or if she does sketches too, some sketching pencils!. ****Make sure she doesn't have any of these!!!!! Do not buy paints, brushes, canvas and so on if you do not anything about them!. I also think that maybe a nice sketch book would be nice!. You know - a nice cover nice paper!. The canvas comes in different textures (and quality) so note what texture she uses (smooth, coarse, etc!.)!. The same with paint, get her the brands and type she already is using (oil heavy, etc!.)
