Question: Do Artists tend to hate their artwork!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Artist's are always their own worse critics because we visualize the way something is supposed to be in our minds and even if it is subconscious our actions are on a path to this visualized end result!.
Hate their artwork!? No, if you do!.!.!.I guess you just hate yourself (or are holding back in your work for whatever reason and resenting yourself)!.
I love my paintings, they are my children and I love to watch them grow and progress and when they are done I sit back and stare at them because they are a reflection of me!. Always wanting to learn more about myself and improve myself my paintings are how I look into my own soul!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it's hard to say how i feel about my art!.!.!.
i have to walk away from it a lot or else i'll end up burning it or chucking it out the window!.

if i'm working on a portrait for someone, i send it off unsatisfied (wishing i had worked on it for a bit longer)
but when i see it again after a little while, i start liking it!.

I tend to hate my older stuff, like something you paint today you think is really cool, and then in five years your flipping through your old sketchbooks and it's like "omg what was I thinking!."

Old poetry, especially stuff I did in high-school is even worse!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

That depends!. Usually if you're a professional artist you have at least some confidence that your artwork is good!. I would say, though, that most artists don't ever make a piece of artwork that they consider perfect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They tend to be more critical because they can see the problems with the artwork that others do not know about!. I do not think artists hate their artwork or they would not make artwork!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's a quote from Leonardo da Vinci that goes like this: "Art is never finished, only abandoned"!. I think that sums it up pretty well!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
