It's because of the size of picture that your camera takes!. The printer is printing the images in the standard 35mm size, which is a 3:2 ratio, where as your camera takes the picture at a 4:3!. Next time when you go to print don't get the standard size, most point and shoot digital cameras need to be printed in 4x6!. If you are at a kiosk there should be an option to say "print without cropping"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

machine printers always crop to a format size!.!.!.

theres two ways around this problem!. 1, compose better in the camera!.

2 pay to have your prints "printed" but i warn you, its not cheap!.!.!.

just take care when composing!.!.!. and it oughtnt be a problem!.!.!.

BUT if your printing off a memory card, or CD, you can run em thru fastone image viewer, ( or photoshop!) tweak and crop, then take em to the photo developer of your choice!.!.!. (jessops usually)!.!.!. or look on ebay, people offer photoprints using colour lasers, and theyre quite competetive, (you upload em using FTP (which they send you) Www@QuestionHome@Com

They crop because the ratio of the film (or ccd in digital) does not exactly fit the paper used!.
Rather than use larger paper and have borders they use the nearest equivalent and crop the edges!.
If you do not want the pictures cropped at all then you need to use a pro lab and tell them not to crop!.
