MFD on a 50mm standard lens is about 8 -12 inches less if it has macro!.

rule of thumb says, the longer the lens, the greater the MFD!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Each P&S 35 mm cameras have their own and there is no standard!.

SLR cameras closest focus distance is based upon the lens you have attached to the camera at any given time

My 500 mm closest focus is about 4 meters!.
My 20 mm closest focus is about 0!.3 meters
My 55 mm macro is about 0!.2 meters
