Look on your lens!. There is somewhere on your lens that has a circle with a line through it with a number

If your 18-55 mm lens is a Nikon it takes a 52 mm filter, if it is a Canon, the it takes a 58 mm filter and Pentax a 52 mm filter!.

Nikon 50 mm lens = 52 mm filter
Nikon AF-S 50 mm lens = 58 mm filter
Canon 50 mm f/1!.4 lens = 58 mm filter
Canon 50 mm f/1!.8 lens = 52 mm filter
Pentax 50 mm lens = 58 mm filters
Pentax 50 mm mcP FA lens = 49 mm filterWww@QuestionHome@Com

Because your 18-55 mm refers to the distance inside the lens and the 58mm filter is the measurement of the diameter of the filter!. Two entirely different measurements!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because the 18-55 refers to the focal length of the Lens and the 58 mm refers to the diameter of the Lens!. They are measuring different things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
