A white sheet will work for a white background- make sure there are no wrinkles in it!. Tack it to the wall- have your cousin sit on a stool about 4 feet from the wall!. Set your camera up up on a tripod about 3 feet from your cousin- set the tripos at his eye level!. Put the camera in the vertical position!. For the lighting- what do you have!?
Standard set up is a main light - 45 degree angle to the subject
Fill light next to the camera on the opposite side of the main
background light- behind the subj aimed at the background- out of camera view though!.
250 watt bulbs with a light temperature of 3200 degrees kelvin

i use a black background, a 6'x6' piece of black felt works great!. pure white may not be the look you're looking for, something like canvas or muslin would give a softer look!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
