Question: Which is better film or digital photography!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
For those of us who have been shooting for over ten years, we know how to shoot both and when to shoot either!.

For shooting on deadline, only digital can do the job on time, in time!.

For those shooting for certain magazines and advertising agencies, we many times have to shoot using film!.

So, bottom line, which is better depends upon the client!.

For my personal art, I shoot black and white film, develop and print it using archival processes!.

For sports and most editorial, I use my digital camera

Fashion is about 30% transparency and 70% digital!.

To be successful, I have to be able to shoot both and use any camera from 35 mm and DSLR's to large format cameras like 8x10 view cameras!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Digital Is better, For Me!.

Not saying the quality of Digital is better, just saying that it's much more convenient, and in the long run cheaper!. With the slagging economy, who has the time to go out and purchase rolls and film, and have them developed!? Ten rolls of film, to purchase and develop could cost you around 14-16$, and if you shoot a lot, that would all be in vein!.

I've shot Film, but have stopped!. It's simply getting to expensive, and i'm not investing in DIGITAL SLR's, out with Film SLR's!. Regardless of the quality, i have to go with Digital- that much more convenient!.

Beyond a question of a doubt- people will disagree!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

As others have noted, both film and digital have their own advantages!. It all depends on what is being photographed, and what you are trying to accomplish!. I myself use both mediums!. I'll use a digital SLR for photojournalism purposes, low light situations, and sports!. I'll use 4x5 film for just about everything else where I want better image quality over convenience!.

So, to put it in simple terms, neither medium is better!. You just have to see which is best for you!. Film!? Digital!? Both!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh my God no, not this!. This question has been beat over the head on every forum that remotely relates to photography since the dawn of digital!. There is NEVER a final conclusion!. You will have your digital proponents and your film proponents!.

I use both, and feel they BOTH have very definite advantages over the other in certain circumstances!. I will not try to go into all the various times when one can be better than the other!.

I just wish people would accept each technology for what it is and not feel one has to be 'better" than the other in all situations!.

Boy, did you open a can of worms!! Both have their pros and cons!. One isn't really better than the other!. It all depends on what the photographer likes best!. Personally, I like film, but I can't use it all the time because of the prices and digital becomes more convenient at times!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
