Question: Oil painting - skin color !?
Im really artistic!.

I love to oil paint but i Ruin the picture because the skin tone is always a greyish color or to dark!. :(

is there an oil paint color that i can buy that is a skin tone !? or is that just wishful thinking!. i almost want to give up painting people because i do such a good job!.!. then the skin tone is COMPLETELY wrong!.

You should be able to buy a "flesh" premixed color!. Do some experiments with color mixing your self!. If you have problems mixing a skin tone, you really don't understand your paint's mixing characteristics and need to work on that!. The gray you get is a sign you are using all primaries!.
Mix a mid tone (light) alizarin crimson and yellow ochre to make a basic skin color!. Substitute burnt sienna for the ochre for a darker skin!.
Work with those colors adding ultramarine for shadows, burnt sienna for ears and nostrils and more alizarin crimson for lips!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try mixing a little red and yellow paint and more base to get a skin colour!. If it doesn't come out right, try adding a little more yellow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
