Question: Can you Legally take a portrait!? !?
So!.!.!. Im going to a Dance In November and offered to take pictures for those who want it!. Now, is there a way I can do this and still attempt to make a small profit for the out of pocket that I know will incur (processing etc) Im in NY btw too!.

The event is going to be in a hotel and not many people will be over 18!.

Should I have waivers or something to that effect!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Generally you have no problems so long as you do not use the photgraphs to advertise a product or service - this is called commercial use!.

For editorial and artistic purposes no waivers are normally required!.

For commercial use you do need a model release!.

Sometimes a school will offer exclusive rights to a photographer - you know the guy you see on the way in!.

I don't think they take away anyone's camera of course, but if you attempted to set up lighting equipment they may ask you to take it down!.
