A less than 3Mp sized file such as this is pushing it a little bit!.

I don't know which software you are using, but if you have Photoshop there is a way to see exactly what your going to get!.

Open Photoshop and go to New, in the dialogue box that opens change the units to inches and type in the height and width you want, for the moment change the resolution to 300 ppi and press OK!.

Go into Bridge and highlight the picture you want go to File Place>In Photoshop!.

Photoshop will place the picture on the canvas with a Transform Tool bounding box around it!. Now you will see your file size in relation to a high resolution canvas size!.

Hold down the Shift Key (to maintain aspect Ratio) and drag on the corner 'anchor points' to fill the canvas with your picture!. At this point you can move the image around and do any necessary cropping to make the aspect ratios fit!. When your happy press enter!.

By double clicking the Zoom Tool (magnifying glass) you will zoom into 100% this will show you exactly how the printer will lay down the ink so you can see the quality your going to get!. Press the Spacebar to select the Move Tool and you can click and drag around the image!. You will probably notice that small details are becoming soft, this is caused by Photoshop 'interpolating' the image, 'interpolation' is where Photoshop is having to add pixels (based on the values of surrounding data) to 'pad out' the images file size to fit the size you want to print to!.

If you go to Image>Image Size you will see that Photoshop is applying the minimum 'interpolation' required to increase the file size to print at this size!. If you're printing yourself you can, with advantage, lower the resolution if your file is big enough as this will reduce the 'interpolation', but with a small file such as yours its unlikely, heres how!.

In the Image size dialogue box make sure the Resample Image box is checked then alter the resolution (lower) till the file size at the top of the dialogue box is roughly equal to the formula 1Mb per Inch on the longest side, so for you it would be 14Mb!. Re-sampling this way will ensure the absolute minimum of 'interpolation', but you may find the picture begins to loose definition in the fine detail, so how far you can go is up to you!.

The picture will still print at a 11 X 14 inch size whatever you set the resolution to!.

When everything is OK flatten the image and save!.

Sure, i've printed 1504 By 1000 all the way to 5 by 7, so you'd be able to print the 1920 by 1440 to a 11 by 14!. However, if you're getting them printed at a Convenience store, like Walmart, the image won't look good regardless!. The resolution is good enough to be blown up to that size, it won't be 100% Clear!. A good trick that i use, that is if i took a picture at low Resolution, by accident, i go to Flick, View all sizes, and then I view the Largest!. Then, i save it- and put it back onto the Memory card ( which can only be done with a memory Card Reader ) Than, you can guarantee!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're borderline with resolution being in the 100ppi range!. It depends on the quality of the photo and what you expect in the print!. Typically, this would be a print to be viewed at a distance of more than arms length!. Re-size it and look at it on your monitor at 100 percent and make a test print!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you want a high quality print then no, yet it's alright for medium quality!. also it is possible to upsize the photo to improve printing quality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
