Question: Is there a way to improve the zoom on a point and shoot camera!?
I currently have a Kodak C813 point and shoot digital camera!. I get some really great shots with it but the most frustrating thing is the zoom!. It's a 3x optical zoom which is okay most of the time but there are times, especially when I want to shoot wildlife, that it isn't enough!. I plan to get a D-SLR as soon as I can afford one (unless I get one for Christmas which considering I was told not to get one before then there's a really good chance I will) But in the meantime I want to know if there are any tricks/tips for getting more out of the camera I have, mostly with the zoom!.

None of the pictures where taken from that great of a distance either which just adds to the frustration!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure about your Kodak, but there are add-on telephoto lenses for some p&s's!. A lot of them are pretty crappy though - especially the cheap ones!
The best suggestion is simply to shoot at the highest possible quality and resolution your camera is capable of (it looks like you're probably already doing this) and then use the crop tool to "zoom in" closer!.

You can probably increase the magnification by a factor of 2x, maybe even 3x, over the original without significant image deterioration!.

This technique would do what you want with the antelope pix!. But it's not adequate for zooming in on the bird in the top of that tree (if that's what you were hoping for)!.

Good luck!. Have fun with it!. And here's hoping you get that new camera soon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, but only a little bit!. The link is one I found on ebay that improves the zoom by 1!.5X!. Maybe you could try buying several and stacking them!. Realistically, you need a new camera!. Either get an ultra-zoom, or an SLR with a really long lense!. I have an SLR with a lense that goes up to 300mm and it's nice!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yep, the answer is that you need a tripod when zooming!.

You can carry a light weight gorillapod or even a home made tripod or bean bag!.
