Question: Is Design REALLY subjective!?
More specifically to Industrial and Graphic Design!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This a sort of yes and no!. There are indeed personal tastes involved particularly when working with clients who have their own personal visions of how things should look and who can be really married to their idea to the point of self-sabotage!. On the other hand, designers, while indeed having their own personal tastes, oftentimes need to put it aside to match the needs of the job as well as maintain the industry standards!. There is a reason why there are certain guidelines set up in terms of layout and form: because they are proven to have a pretty good success rate!. There are times and places for various styles and formats as to when they're called for and appropriate for the tone of the work!.

So I would probably lean a little more towards no!. Designers typically learn from the words of other designers, which in turn, shapes the "rules" of graphic design!. That's not to say that a little outside-the-box thinking isn't a good thing from time to time!. Sometimes breaking the rules can create surprising results :DWww@QuestionHome@Com
