Question: Can I approach established galleries with Monotypes to sell!?
I have been studying an evening course in Printmaking for two years now!.I have covered aquatint, etching,photo-etching, screen printing, collogarph, chine-colle, drypoint etc etc!.

Currently, I am enjoying multi-plate Monoype and Drypoint prints!. I guess that my prints cross the boundary of painting and print, although they look more 'printerley' as the Drypoint brings everything together!. The prints are currently around 110mm square!.

Can I approach a well established local gallery with Monotypes!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes you can!. Phone the gallery and ask to speak to the owner or the buyer!. Talk with them about how they want to see your work -- it may be they want slides, a CD, one print, etc!. Do NOT show up unexpectedly at their door with a portfolio of your work, that isn't professional--they need the call first, and you bringing what format they most want to see the work in!. Arrange a date and time, and be there on time for them to look over your work!. They won't offer you a critique, their sole purpose is to see if what you have fits in with what they sell!. It's purely a business transaction!. If they LIKE your stuff, you become one of the artists they carry!.

Only show your best work!. Follow the format they say they want!. If you have what they like, you're 'in'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Local galleries, art stores, libraries, building societies all are good starting points for aspiring artists!.Art societies often have local exhibitions annually as do Photographic clubs!.Our local agricultural show always has art shows!.Try libraries for a start,as most people with an interest in the Arts tend to frequent there and local clubs and Adult education groups advertise on their display boards!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
