Water reflects the color of many things!. The sky is usually the reason that most people think that water is blue but some of the ocean from the area near Bermuda and other islands are different because the corral is showing through!. Hope that this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't!.

But sometimes, the surface of a body of water will reflect sky, which, of course, is often blue!. But if you have ever really looked at a river, lake or ocean, you can see a variety of colors, such as greens, browns and, in some cases, hints of red!.

So, when I color an image of a body of water, I choose the colors I, either, SEE, or want the viewer to see in my images!.

Note to "Lysii" I just looked into a glass of tap water!. I don't see any blue!. And the reason a swimming pool looks blue is NOT because the water is blue!. It's because the bottom and sides of the pool are PAINTED blue!. NOT the water!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it's because most people don't like to just leave the water empty!. There's no real color for 'clear', meaning you can't just use a pencil and color it that way!. So, blue really signifies that the water is there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
