Question: How much should I charge for a wedding!?
I am doing a wedding in a few months in Myrtle Beach!. It is 3 hours from where I live!. All she wants is bridal portraits, pics getting ready of guys and girls, a few cermeony pics, and reception pics!. There will be about 200 people there, and it will be in a church!. This is only my 2nd wedding!. What should I charge her, including travel costs!?
Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

normally for any job travel costs are 50 cents a mile!. I would say between $900- 1200 is a good price!. if she thinks that is too high bring it down a little!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

In addition to the previous answers, are you planning to do this as a career, or is it simply something you do whenever a friend asks you!?

If you're planning to make this a career I would recommend doing a business plan and coming up with a pricing strategy!. Figure in all your costs for the one gig (your time, albums, prints, batteries, rental gear if necessary) and your other expenses (equipment, office supplies, advertising, rent, electricity, heat) and then charge a reasonable markup!.

also, make sure you get everything in writing, including the price and what you will be covering!. I've heard many stories of brides not happy because of miscommunication!. Cover your behind with a contract and make sure someone who knows a thing or two about contracts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"All she wants is bridal portraits, pics getting ready of guys and girls, a few cermeony pics, and reception pics"!.

Oh!.!.!. that's "all" she wants!? Sounds like the entire wedding to me!.

You will probably take offense to this, but it does not matter if this is your 2nd or 200th wedding,!.!.!. if you do not know what your time and skill are worth, how is anyone else supposed to know!?

Wedding photography prices are all over the map!. The highest is not always the best, the cheapest is not always the worse!. Again, you need to know how much time, effort, and investment you will putting into this both before and after the wedding, figure a reasonable profit, then charge accordingly!.

So did they hire you already without you stating a price!? How can you be confirmed to be doing the wedding with no price already being discussed and agreed upon!?

Depends!.!.!. What is she getting in the end (prints, cd, etc!.)!? How many photographers will be there!? Do you have an assistant!? How long will you be there!? How much experience do you have (I know this is your 2nd wedding, but did you ever assist for someone before or did you go to school)!? What does your portfolio look like!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
