Question: Why do they use film in the movie industry!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Only low budget movies shoot film these days, all the feature films as well as TV are shot on digital, not your common or garden camcorder, these are HDR and shoot bracketed shots at 75 frames per second!. These shots are merged in the camera in real time to give the stunning wide dynamic range images which betters film quality by a massive amount!.

With these cameras the editing is easier and enables the jaw dropping effects you see!.

Some movies are actually shot on video!. Most studios do still use film, but the trend is (slowly) changing to video!.

Some notable movies shot digitally:
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Collateral
Superman Returns

One of the factors keeping many movie makers away from video, despite a fairly large cost savings, is the concern over preservation!. How will the movies be archived for future generations!? That is a major concern in Hollywood and around the world!. Photography went through, and is still going through, much of that same debate!. also, according to a friend, the film cameras are actually easier to use, though that seems rather odd to me!. He should know, I guess!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on whom is making it!. The fourth Indiana Jones movie was shot on film so it would be consistent with the first three!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
