Explanation:
Through the Refracting Telescope of Sorrow:
The Physical Possibility but the Psychological Impossibility of Flight (2008)
Graphite on Paper
Size 75cm x 95cm
Sadness, depression, hopelessness, helplessness, feelings of inferiority…
Just like looking through a refracting telescope without a diagonal, sorrow magnifies small things and produces an inverse image of the world!.
Healthy people dream of magnificent goals and there is no limit to their ambitions – except their own physical and mental capability!. On the other hand, those who are depressed, have much smaller goals – that’s if they even have one!. The limitation is not physical or mental capability; instead psychological incapability is the one stunting simple achievement!. Every small perceived ‘failure’ seems to be a major downfall!. Even when the body yearns to fly away from the terrible grip of shadow, the mind is fed up with yet another dismal spoonful of hopelessness!.
