Color is normally applied by spray can or air brush with oil based paint for both methods!. It is applied to the bare foam and then glassed over!. You can do it the way you describe!. Sand the entire board with 150 grit paper!. Use spray cans to apply the color and masking tape to make designs!. Then you can coat the board with clear finishing resin from a surf shop!. This is tedious because you have to sand the coat with higher and higher grits until you reach 600 grit!. Then you compound to get a shine!. A much easier and very acceptable method is to coat the color with several light coats of clear spray lacquer in cans!. Rust Oleum is the best!. Take your time and do it right and the board should look great!. One more thing!. Use flat spray paint for the color!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
