Actually she was painted with eyelashes and eyebrows!. Through time the very fine lines that made up her eyelashes faded!. According to the Da Vinci's exhibit me and my fiance went to at The Metreon in San Francisco that through a high definition camera, resulting to an ultra-high resolution magnifying Mona Lisa's image 24x there was an evidence found of a single brush stroke that would constitute of her brows and lashes!.

It is a faded pigment from the paint used!. Because as we all know, during those times artists like Michaelangelo, Da Vinci and the like made their own paint from different colored pigment!. As technology progressed there were added chemicals to make paint stay and preserve the pigment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The fashion was indeed to remove eyebrows (even men did it), as a high, smooth forehead was considered fashionable!. They would even shave their hair to raise the hairline!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

!.!.!.if she once had lashes, where did they go!? Possibly faded pigment, !.!.!.!.or possibly a poor attempt to clean the painting!. And if you look closely at the eye of 'Mona Lisa' you can clearly see that the cracks around the eye have slightly disappeared, and that may be explained that one day a curator or restorer cleaned the eye, and cleaning the eye, !.!.!. probably removed the eyelashes and eyebrow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i dunno!.!.!. i think some people think its pretty to not have eyebrows!. maybe he didnt like the look of them, or maybe the woman didnt like them and shaved them off!.
plus i think around that time it was kindof like a style or something!. like how people today will shave or wax them off and draw them on!.!.!.

She does have eyebrows and eyelashes!. You can't see it anymore because the paint might have faded or possibly someone wiped away the eyebrow when he was restoring the painting!.
