Hoya Pro 1 is an excellent polarizing filter!. I also shoot a Canon 40D and just bought a polarizing filter!. However, I bought a Tiffen only because that's what my Professor suggested!. Both Tiffen and Hoya are excellent brands!. B+W is also i great manufacturer too!. Although they're little more expensive!. The only reason for the higher cost is B+W filters are stack able!. They are made with a higher quality metal so they won't fuse together in your camera bag!. You can purchase the safest cheapest site is off of B&H video!.com!. This where i buy all of my camera gear and accessorizes!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need a circular polarizer for your lens!. A linear polarizer will cause problems with the auto focus!.

Hoya is a good brand, as is Tiffen, B+W, Singh-Ray and Heliopan!. Always buy the highest quality you can afford!. I have a Tiffen polarizer I bought in 1972 and its still working fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Edwin said it well!. You need a circular polarizer for most modern autofocus cameras/ A linear is more effective at polarizing but can cause problems with autofocus and metering!. I also like Hoya filters Www@QuestionHome@Com

Avoid the cheap filters!. the HOYA PRO-1 is excellent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
