The greatest difference is money!.

It all depends on what you want to do with your pictures!. You can enlarge a 10 larger than you can a 5!. for practical purposes, enlargements of 8x10 or so you will see no difference!. Anyone who tells you they can see a difference is not quite being truthful with you!.

You have to remember that before the 10mp cameras came out, professional were using 5 and 6 mp cameras and telling you they were thegreatest!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok, everyone here has told you about the 10MP camera having more "dots" than the 5MP camera and they are correct!.

What they did not tell you is that those 10 million dots are crammed into the same physical area as the 5 million dots in the lower resolution camera!.

The reason I point this out is that most of your point & shoot cameras with huge numbers of pixels also suffer badly in their ability to "gather light" because of the tiny sensors used!. This means that you will have less capability in "low light" situations!.

For most normal snap shot use, the 5MP will actually be a better choice!. Your 4" x 6" prints will look wonderful and even 8" x 10" will be just as good as film would give!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pixels are tiny little dots that make up colours in the image!. 5mp is 5milllion!. So the more you have packed in, the more detail you will get!.

If you painted 3 huge peices of paper a few colours they would just look like three random squares!. But if you painted 300 squares and arranged them properly, it will look more like a picture!. The more the better basically!. But once you get past about 10MP, unless you are in media or something like that, then there isn't much of a need for more pixels as you will never use a large enough picture to see the benefits!. This is because the more megapixels you have - the bigger you can make the image without it losing too much quility!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A 10mp camera has twice as many mega pixels as a 5mp camera!. That means twice as many little dots that make up the picture, they are smaller which means that the quality of the picture is better!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

5 mega pixels m8, 10 mega iz far superior!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's because of the pixels!. One is better quailty and more detailed than the otherWww@QuestionHome@Com
