Question: What are some good tips for creating good photos!?
I have been interested in getting into photography as a hobby since I was in High School!. Unfortunately, I live in a small town and had no opportunities to take any sort of photography class!. I recently got a Sony CyberShot (8!.1 mp) for my birthday!. I know it's not an expensive professional camera by any means, and I really can't afford to get another camera, but I would still like to be able to produce good photos!. I still don't have an opportunity for any kind of classes without driving for 3 hours (which I can't do because of work schedules)!.

Does anyone have any tips they can give me for getting into this hobby!? I just need tips/advice on being able to produce good photos with the camera I have!. I have been taking lots of scenery shots but I want to know how to be able to compose a photo so it looks good!.

Thanks to anyone who answers!.

just some simple advice ands tips;

rule of thirds: imagine a 3x3 grid on your camera (it might have an option for one to pop up) and align your subjects with the lines

foreground and background: works for most photos, include something in the foreground as well as background, (thats what average tourist shots are like, they normally have just one subject in the centre of the photo)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stephanie, your best bet is to keep shooting!. Take shots of nature, scenery, people !.!.!.everything!. Look at all the shots you take and pick out the few shots that wow you and dont be afraid to ask friends or even complete strangers what they think!. The ones that are really good take note of how you shot it, how the lighting was, what the perspective was!.!.!.!. and set that as your starting point!. Then try to raise the bar a little higher with every consecutive shot!. And last of all dont be afraid to ask advice on here there are quite a few very knowledgable professional photographers to give you pointers!. I hope this helped!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In order to get better, you need constructive criticism on your work!. For this to benefit you, it should be from somebody who has better skills than you do!. That involves reading books, taking classes, or apprenticing with an experienced photographer!. If you live in the hinterlands, there are some web sites that offer help!. One of which I am aware is http://www!.betterphoto!.com!. They offer on line classes!. http://photo!.net/ is another that has an on-line textbook!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Kodak has an excellent online resource here: http://www!.kodak!.com/eknec/PageQuerier!.j!.!.!.

The best thing I ever did for my exploration of photography was put together a camera kit which included:

-- Camera Bag!.
-- Nikon FE series 35mm film camera!.
-- 50mm lens (for general/midrange shots)!.
-- Macro/Telephoto lens (for close up/long range shots)!.
-- A wide camera strap which could hold film canisters!.
-- Small tripod (mostly for macrophotography)!.
-- Various types of film!.
-- Extra batteries!.
-- Camera/lens cleaning equipment!.
-- My camera owner's manual!.
-- Field/pocket guides with instructions and tips on shooting in different situations!.

I later got a fullsize tripod which didn't fit in the bag and a handheld shutter release for long exposures!.

With digital, you'll want to carry several memory chips instead of film!.

A field or pocket guide was essential for me, one such as this: http://www!.amazon!.com/KODAK-Pocket-Guide!.!.!.

Go to a book or camera store and look through books that talk about technique and camera settings, particularly in the type of shots you'd like to take right now!.

Take more pictures than you think you need!.

And if you really want people to see as you as a talented photographer, take this tip from my aunt Pearl: Never show anyone your bad stuff!. ;-)Www@QuestionHome@Com
