Question: Need soe guidance to get consistent photos to use in panoramas!?
I took the photos used to make this panorama using the auto exposure of my Sony A200K!. http://farm4!.static!.flickr!.com/3065/2864!.!.!.

The photo was never meant to be a masterpiece but I wanted to play around with "autostitch" to put a panorama together!.

What I am wondering is best methods to avoid all the differences you see in the blue of the sky!.

In post processing, I did try to vary the exposure compensation and that helped a little but as you can see, it would have been much better to have the camera properly set up!.

Would the consistency have been much closer if I had gone to full manual mode instead of using the auto exposure!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yah: full manual mode, meter for the brightest area of the sky to avoid that blown-out look in the middle!.

Here's what I usually do for panorama shots!. On a tripod, camera sideways in "portrait" orientation, set to f/11, aperture priority, point at the brightest area, take a shot!. Check to see what speed the auto-metering set!. Then use the same setting in manual mode!. Overlap the shots by 30-50%!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Setting the exposure manually would give you consistent results!.However if your shots cover a very wide area of sky,the sky does vary in tone!.It is possible to measure the colour values in the sky and vary the specific values in the blue/cyan range!.This is best done using adjustment layers so as to preserve your original image files!.
If you can use RAW files these give you additional control!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
