Question: What kind of sealer can I use to set the paint on rocks!? !?
I paint rocks for a hobby!. Rocks can't be put in a kiln because they'll explode!. But when I use spray glaze the paint spreads and loses its definition!. I've tried to spray if from a distance of 2 feet for a light seal but that doesn't provide a proper seal either!. People take these little rocks and put them in their pockets and handle them and over a short time the paint rubs off!. Please advise!. Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Might I inquire as to the paints you're suing to paint the rocks because you didnt mention what kind of paint you are using!. If your oil based paint isnt dry, this would make those colors run,!.!.!.also, depending on what kind of rocks you're using,!.!.!.!.roudned pebbles for instance,!.!.!.!.!.!.!.the paint you're using ends up getting a 360 degree sealing meaning that the sealer you're using not only is attaching to the upper side of the rocks but also, from underneath and that makes it incredibly hard for your painted surface to stay detailed!. Now, Might I suggest that you use simple "epoxy glue" to do your first coat of sealing,!.!.!.!.!.!.!.use a regular epoxy and not a five minute type,!.!.!.!.!.you need to have at least 30 minutes to have the glue set and then you can use any varnish or laquer on the market!.!.!.!.!.!.the trick here is that the epoxy wont cause the oil based paint or water based paint to bleed because it isnt oil or water based!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.if you need to, please contact me and I'll help you make the right choice but I need to know more detail as to what you're using as a paint type!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Paint on the rocks with oil paints, they would be the best to use on this kind of surface!. the only thing is they take ages to dry!. so it would be wise to buy an oil paint medium which makes the paint dry faster!.
