I've worked out a basic way of dividing the figure for when I draw people in designs/ storyboards etc!. You can divide the body into seven equal parts, based on the length of the head!. The torso and legs (measured from the inside) are about equal, three heads each!. The knees are half way down the legs and the torso can be further divided into three heads at the chest and the waist (measuring from shoulder to crotch)!. Because the neck is at an angle the chin appears almost level with the top of the back (which slopes up from the shoulders towards the back of the neck)
the slope of the shoulders should be roughly a third of a head, and the width of the shoulders is around two and a half to three times the width of the head!. The arms reach to about half way down the thigh (on the outside) with the wrist level with the hips and the elbow level with the waist!. Everyone's different of course but I find this useful for a starting point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Are you drawing from life!? If so you can make a frame and view the figure through that!. If not why not try the library!. There are lots of books devoted to drawing that will give you loads of advice!. Your best option is to do some rough sketching, taking a pad out and noting people in different places!. I'm afraid to master the human figure takes lots of practice! Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have to see how many times the head fits into the body
then draw around it
