Question: Whats the Hoya ND400's longest exposure!?
I have just ordered myself the Hoya ND400 9-stop filter and I was wondering what is the longest exposure I could get without a cable release or remote!?

I also have a Cokin ND121S grad if that helps!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are more ways to take long exposures with out a cable release or remote trigger!.

Tripod, shooting with a 9-stop ND filter is exactly that, 9-stops more exposure!.

If your metered shot is f/16 @ 1/250th then you will have to add nine stops worth of exposure or f/16 @ 2 seconds!. Just set your shutter speed to 2 seconds!. The longest timed shutter speed on most DSLR's and 35 mm SLR's is 30 seconds!. After that you have to use the bulb setting and hold the shutter open for as long as you want !.!.!. in this case a remote release is helpful, since you can lock it down for as long as you want

This is simple reciprocity, something you learned in your first photo class!.
