Well, being a beginner in photography, here's my view:

I agree and disagree!. Ok, some professional photographers, right here on this site always sneak onto my page, read my answers, and then turn around and out right insults me!. They say i don't know what i'm talking about, i shouldn't be on the site, and i shouldn't share my views!.
And that felt a little ' rude ' to me!. I mean, i'm just a beginner, i never claimed to be a professional!. Photographers on this site think i think of myself as having this title!.

However, on the other end of the spectrum, some professional photographers are very gracious, knowledgeable, and willing to help you!. Not just critique you to the point of embarrasment, and make you feel bad!. I've observed both from users of this site!. However, face to face i don't think professionals are all the mean!. I've met alot of real professionals!. not just over this, but in real life, and they aren't that mean!. The only mean ones i've seen are on this site!.

However, i live to see another day, and live to prove them wrong!.

Commercial photography tends to be a small and highly competitive field and most photographers are under a lot of pressure which is perhaps why many of them are a bit ill/short tempered, but this is true for any competitive field!. I have my own commercial photography business now, but when I was working as an assistant I was often treated like a shoe regardless of how much they knew or assumed I knew!. As far as there being any good photographers out there, there are plenty!. However, I would suggest if you are looking for a mentor in photography you should consider fine art photographers who are typically under a bit less pressure than other photographers!. As for fine art photographers websites, try Eikoh Hosoe, i have talked to him personally and he is quite friendly and easily approachable, problem is that if you are looking for personal mentorship, he lives in Tokyo!. Don't judge all by a few, that is called stereotyping and it is highly inaccurate!. We are people that have good days and bad days, though most of us can be quirky and eccentric at times, that is the artist coming out!. Any teacher will become impatient with a student that is refusing to learn or won't listen!. No, we are all bad professional photographers!. That is how you get to be pro, is by being bad and over charging and making nasty comments to clients!. All of our web sites have been confiscated by the US Government!. They think all photographers are terrorist!. I don't know which is worse, dealing homeland security or with bridezilla!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all depends on who you meet!. I posted a question about lighting for a shoot I had coming up and one of these top contributors (not any above answering questions) who I guess happened to be a prof photographer nearly ripped my face off!. I'm just starting out and it seems that at times some people in the prof!. field let it all go to their heads and see us as competition!. It will always serve me as reminder to be humble and try to educate and uplift those new-comers to photography!. After all this world needs more artist than it does *******Www@QuestionHome@Com

A professional photographer who deals with the public will not be in business for long if he / she is always rude or bad tempered!. I think you see a lot of that on this forum because there are so many amateurs who have no respect or understanding that good photography is skill and art!. Too many questions here are from people who think all they have to do is buy a "professional" camera and have photoshop and they are all of a sudden great photographers!. So any real photographer gets aggravated with that attitude over and over again, and we tend to vent that here sometimes!.!.!.!. at least I know I have at times!.

I have spent many, many, many hours helping people learn photography through emails and in person!. I, in turn, have had many pro photographers give me aid in the past!.

So, no, all professional photographers are most certainly NOT bad natured or rude!. We just get a little fed up with the attitudes of some people as concerns our skill and art!.

The best pictures come when you develop a rapport with the subject of the picture!. So in fact the really good photographers often have really good people skills!. Yes a few buy into thier own myth but most are good to work with

There are more polite and kind professional photographers than rude and bad tempered!. If you have had run ins with bad tempered folks, perhaps it's your behavior that is bringing out the worst in them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is unfair to assume that all photographers are like the one you dealt with!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
