Question: Do real artists use Crayola crayons!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Artists use whatever medium they wish and whatever material suits the image they wish to create or a concept they wish to explore!. I love to use crayons, felt pens, blackboard chalks to create images based around childhood memory and use some materials that are not particularly regarded as traditional art materials at all - soil, home dug clays, home made pigments, household products!.

In reference directly to crayola just google, there are lots of artists that use specifically this brand, and I include a link to a sculptors work i saw online recently who also uses crayons!.

Art is about the act of creativity and is not limited by medium, you only have to look at art from the past century to see how different materials have been used!. Personally i would be suspicious of anyone who called themselves an artist but couldn't make art just from the materials they have around them - not having the "correct" paint or paper should spur creative thoughts on what other ways to make rather than a declaration of being unable to produce because someone doesn't have the "right" materials!. :-)

As a matter of fact, I have always kept a collection of crayons on my shelf as long as I've had a studio!. Sometimes, only a crayon on heavily textured paper can give me that exact look I seek!. It is also a great adjucnt to water colors!. The waxy crayon resists the water bourne pigment in a terrific manner!.

I also get called upon to create illustrations that are intended to look like they were drawn by children!. Sometimes it is chalk and more often, crayons are the ideal medium for this look!.

There, really, ARE no children's or adult's art supplies!. There are only the RIGHT tools for the particular job!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Artists can use any medium (pencils, crayons, markers, watercolors, etc!.) that appeals to them!. Some great artist use unusual formats to try out different things!. Pablo Picasso went through a period of using crayon!. Henri Matisse was famous for his construction paper collages near the end of his life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Aspiring artists!.!.!.you bet, but I evolved into Airbrush, Berol Prismacolor pencils, water color, and many other forms of media!.
