Question: Suggestions for a D-SLR camera!?
I'm planning on using it for independent studies in photography, yearbook photography, and possibly finishing up a portfolio to send into to college!.
Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on what d-slr camera would be suitable for this kind of work!? The price range I'm looking at is around $499-$599!. This will be my first d-slr camera so I'm not trying to spend tons of money on one!. With your answer can you please provide an explanation for your choice!? ThanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

The Nikon D40 DSLR with a 18-55 mm lens is the most bang for the buck!. $470 at Amazon!.

That said, if you have a photo lab at your school, you can find a Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR for under $150 with a standard zoom lens and with the rest of your budget buy some good used Nikon (or Canon) lenses of different focal lengths to round out your camera system!. By the time you learn how to compose, expose, develop and print nearly perfect prints evert time, you will find that the DSLR's will be even better than now !.!.

Many schools that require an entry portfolio expect you to submit photos you have hand printed yourself in the darkroom to see how technically proficient you are as you enter their programs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Buy A Nikon D40!. It will be a great camera for what you want to use it for at this time!. It is loaded with tons of great goods & it wont break your bank!.!.!.and in two or three years you will be ready to upgrade and by then you will have a great handle on D-SLR!. You will also enjoy using the camera and you will not grow tired of it!. I shoot a Nikon D80 right now and I love it & I have read nothing but great things about the D40 and for the price range you are looking in I can promise you that you can't go wrong with a Nikon!. And you can even get some really great combo packs on e-bay!.!.!.now most the time those won't come with a "Nikon" Lens, but some do and even the ones that don't the Lens's they do come with are good enough for starting off and in most casses the combo packs you can get two lens and a tripod and even a few other goods like a memory card and even a camera bag!.so it is a great way to get all the gear you will want and need with out going over budget!.!.!.!.!.!.!.hope I helped you out and Good Luck to you in School!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
