I have used two, for my photography classes - one new, the other old!. The newer model is a 35mm SLR, a canon EOS ELAN 7e!. It has modern metering and auto-focus systems and operates much like modern DSLR's do, less the digital image sensor and is really not geared toward learning!. The other, much older camera is a nikon FE2 manual focus SLR which is my favorite for shooting film and a better choice for learning the basics of photography!. During the era in which it was made, ca!. late 70's, early 80's, there were many cameras of different makes manufactured that were as popular, like the minolta X-700 and canon AE-1, all made with the same build quality and reliability!. Many of them can be found used, for sale on classified listings or ebay for under $200 with a fast 50mm lens!. I recommend one of those models as they only have the most rudimentary viewfinder meter scales and full manual control with usually an aperture preferred auto exposure mode!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
