You're talking about two different requirements, and you'll only get the 'brand victims' of Nikon and Canon on here!. For those of us who know better you may get a better answer from people who really know here,

You're right to be concerned the sensor on the K20D will really show mediocre lenses for what they are!.

Don't discount the old Takumar M42 lenses, manual everything, but superb image quality that has never been bettered!. You will need an M42 to Pentax K adapter of course, don't get any with a 'flange' on the front you'll find that on some lenses you won't be able to focus on infinity!. There some Takumar lenses that have Pentax K mount made during the 'transition' period in 1974!. Its definitely a way of getting superb glass cheaply!.

Landscape - The 10 to 17mm fisheye is a superb lens, if you like the fisheye effect!. If not the 12 to 24mm is in the same class - superb!.

Still Life - A macro lens is probably the best the 100mm moves you further away from the subject which gives you room to get the lighting in!.

Don't get too hung up on primes, good as they are, lens technology has moved on and small range zooms (3X or less) perform as good as some of the older primes do!.

This is a link from my favorite UK suppler (usual disclaimer - just a satisfied customer) you won't go wrong with these guys, ask them your questions for definitive answers!. (ask for Chris - not me by the way)!.

Don't discount Sigma lenses either, particularly their EX range of professional lenses!.

The best lenses for landscape are wide angle ones!. Presumably you do not have a full frame sensor in your Pentax so an 18mm prime lens would be about the most dramatic one you could get without too much distortion!. That would be an equivalent lens to a film SLR 24mm!. For still life your best bet would just be a standard 30mm lens, you don't need anything ambitious for this!. If you also buy a good telephoto as well to capture the fine detail in the landscape, the fleeting effects of light that a wideangle could never get you will be good to go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't get why they must be primes, ultra-wide primes (best used for landscapes) tend to be quite expensive (for pentax, anyway) like this one:

Zooms can be more versatile, cover a useful range, and are less expensive, like this one: http://www!.bhphotovideo!.com/c/product/52!.!.!.

These days, quality is a relative term with respect to pentax!. In this crowd, you're mostly on your own!. The fact that you don't know what to use, but define quality as a must shows you lack a measure of experience!. So before you fill your camera bag with 3-5 exotic primes, I recommend getting the superzoom in the second link until you learn what you will need by way of a specialized lens!.

Instead of paying out a lot of money for a Landscape lens, why not mount your camera on your tripod, and do a series of overlapping shots in portrait position, and knit them together with your software !!
A lot cheaper, and more fun!.
As for still life!. the following pic was taken with the Standard Pentax Kit lens, and a x2 Tele Converter!.

If you MUST have another lens, then for £100, you can get a Sigma 70-300 macro, that will do a lot for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

100mm macro lens which gives you some distance from subject in still life but has good quality for landscapes if you stop well down!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
