Every time I shoot a photo it goes very dark

for example here's one description of a photo I took and went dark on me!.

1/2000

I don't even really know what these things mean!. I'm a fan of photography unfortunately I know nothing

The numbers are
1/2000 - shutter speed in seconds
f4!.0 - lens aperture setting!. In TV mode, you set the shutter speed and the camera sets the aperture!. This may have been the maximum at the focal length you were using!.
+2/3 - exposure compensation!. You are asking the camera to overexpose by 2/3 of a stop!.
ISO 80 - sensor sensitivity!.

TV (Time Value) mode lets you set the shutter speed!. 1/2000th may have been too fast for the conditions!. Either decrease the shutter speed (what did you need 1/2000th for!?) or up the ISO!. Your camera should be signaling you that the exposure is too dark!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Tv = Time Value

This allows you to control the shutter speed!. The camera will set the rest to compesate for your chosen shutter speed!.

I'm unsure why your exposure would be dark!.!.!. it should be pretty close to correct!.

There isn't one setting that will work for all situations!.!.!. use a slow shutter speed to blur movement, use a fast shutter speed to stop movement!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
