Most good art supply shops will have a range of pencils!.

Pencils have different grades, ranging from very hard: 8H, to very soft:9B, the H denotes a hard graphite 'lead' and the B denotes a softer one!.

The softer the graphite, the better for shading, I use a 2B, a 4B and for dark areas a 9B!. I also use a 2H to draw in finer details, as the softer pencils will smudge!.

You may find it useful to use a torchon (tightly rolled paper stick) for smudging, these can be found with the pencils at the suppliers!.

I use Derwent, as they are quite local to me, I include their website that has a handy supplier guide, click on the planet!.
