Question: Can I buy paintings from department stores &
sell them in the parks on the grass for profit!? I would not try to pretend I painted them just put prices on them and sell them!. Do I need a license or permit and is this ethical!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is called resale, and Costco shoppers do it with food and other items all the time! I personally object to it, because you are not contributing a new idea or product, but rather charging others more for something than it is worth on the market (what you paid for it!.)

And to ask this in an art/painting forum is rather tacky!. !. !. !. as an artist I like to promote support of the arts and REAL artists !. !. !. not junk like sofa paintings done in sweat shops overseas!

Please do not consider this selling art!. !. !. this is selling bulk merchandise!. There may be nothing wrong with that whatsoever!. !. !. !. but in my opinion I think you are taking money from people who might not like finding out they could get the same thing cheaper at the department store!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe if you had a garage sale, but come on, re-selling other people's artwork is not only "tacky" as someone said it's pathetic! Just because you won't pretend that you are the artist doesn't mean it's not perjury!. Check out permit laws in your city, but sell something of your own, not other people's artwork!. I would have to believe that the town you are wanting to sell them in will require some sort of permit in order to do business in their boundaries!.

As for ethics, I would have to imagine that as long as you are not representing them to be something they aren't, there is nothing un-ethical about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
