Question: Can I hairspray paper!?
I have a large piece of white paper that has some slight folds in it!. I want to use it for drawing!. Do you think I could spray hair spray on it and lay books on it to dry, and it would stay flat!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Iron it with your clothes iron - no kidding!. Dampen the paper first by spraying it lightly with water, then iron the folds out, using care not to hold the iron in one spot for too long!.

I would strongly advise against using hairspray - I've seen some great pieces of art ruined by discolouration from hairspray!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hairspray is really bad as a fixative because over time it yellows the papaer and eventually destroys the quality of the drawing or artwork!. your best bet is to get an actual fixative that just as might cost as much as a bottle of hairspray 4-5 dollarsWww@QuestionHome@Com

iron it!
get one of those spray bottles u use for ironing and lightly spray it with water then iron it quickly so the irons not in one place for too long and there u go, a nice crisp flat smooth piece of paper!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have used hairspray as a fixative for a drawing!. It really depends on the type of paper and type of hairspray!.!.!.the old alcohol based AquaNet worked fine on charcoal paper like Mi Tientes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah it does work, been using it for years!. My art teacher in High School showed me that!. Never had a problem yet!.
So go ahead and Spray Away!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
